Tajikistan capital gains tax calculator
Tajikistan has no separate capital gains tax. A resident’s gain on a disposal is non-employment income taxed at a flat 15% in the current Code (13% in 2021), with no annual allowance. Immovable property held two years and most movable property are exempt, but shares and participatory interests are always inside the charge.
Work out the tax on a share, crypto or property disposal from your dates and costs. Enter sales by hand or import your exchange CSVs, and the calculator splits multi-parcel sales under FIFO, screens each parcel on its own holding period, applies the year’s flat rate and shows the arithmetic behind the final figure. Everything stays in your browser.
Rates current as of 2026-09-19, from the Tax Code as published by the Tax Committee and the sources each record cites.

Rules and exemptions in the current Code
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| No separate capital gains tax | A resident individual's disposal gain is non-employment income under article 183(3): a flat 15% of the gain, no annual allowance, no article 191 deductions except the social tax for an insured person |
| Shares and participatory interests in an enterprise | Always inside the charge at 15%, whatever the holding period (article 189(1)(12)(c)) |
| Funds and ETFs | No fund-specific rule: the calculator puts fund units on the shares card, inside the charge |
| Immovable property | Exempt where a natural person owned it for at least two years before alienation, unless used for business (article 189(1)(11)) |
| Registered vehicles and trailers | Exempt once owned for a year or more; a shorter hold is taxable (article 189(1)(12)(d)) |
| Other movable property | Exempt, except business-use property and antiques, art, jewellery or collectibles whose increment exceeds 200 calculation indicators |
| Crypto | The Code names no cryptoasset; the calculator taxes the gain at 15% by default and offers the movable-property reading as a per-sale election |
| Losses | Net against gains on the sale of property only, and carry forward up to and including three years (article 197(2) and (3)) |
| Dividends and interest | Withheld at source at 12% and not included again in the recipient's gross income (articles 237 and 238) |
| Return and payment | Individual return due by 1 April of the following year (article 241(4)); tax paid by the 15th day of the month after receipt (article 243(1)) |
Rules as of 2026-09-19. Tajikistan taxes the gain as ordinary non-employment income rather than under a capital gains schedule. The Code names no cryptoasset, so the calculator has no crypto rule of its own.
Questions
Tajikistan capital gains questions
Is there capital gains tax in Tajikistan?
There is no separate capital gains tax. A resident individual's gain on the sale of property is ordinary non-employment income taxed at the flat 15% of article 183(3) of the Tax Code, without the article 191 personal deductions apart from the social tax for an insured person. Employment income at the main place of work is a separate 12% category, so nothing stacks on the salary scale. The 2021 tax year used the prior Code's flat 13%.
Which disposals are exempt?
Immovable property owned for at least two years is exempt unless it was used for business (article 189(1)(11)). Most movable property is exempt too (article 189(1)(12)): the exceptions are business-use property, registered vehicles and trailers held under one year, shares and participatory interests in an enterprise's authorised capital, and antiques, art, jewellery or other collectibles whose increment exceeds 200 calculation indicators.
Do losses reduce the tax?
A loss on the sale or transfer of property is set against income from the sale of such property, and any part not used carries forward for up to and including three years against the same kind of income. It is never deducted from gross income, so a property loss cannot reduce salary or other income. An exempt disposal produces no usable loss.
Is there a separate capital gains tax in Tajikistan?
Tajikistan has no separate capital gains tax. A resident individual's gain on the disposal of property is ordinary non-employment income taxed at the flat 15 percent of article 183(3), without the deductions in article 191 except the social tax for an insured person: no annual allowance, no indexed cost base and no holding-period discount applies to the rate itself. How is immovable property taxed?
Immovable property: article 189(1)(11), as amended by Law No. 2143 of 11 February 2025, exempts the increase in value on the sale or other alienation of immovable property, excluding immovable property used for business purposes, where the property was in the ownership of a natural person for at least two years before alienation. The two-year threshold is the same as the earlier two-limb wording, so the exemption period is unchanged from 2022. Which movable property is exempt?
Movable property: article 189(1)(12) exempts the increase in value from the sale or other alienation of movable property, except (a) property used for entrepreneurial activity; (b) historical values (antiques), works of art, jewellery and other collectibles where the increment exceeds 200 calculation indicators, counting two or more disposals to one or a related person together; (c) the sale, transfer, assignment or other alienation of shares and participatory interests in the authorised capital of enterprises; and (d) vehicles and trailers subject to state registration owned for less than one year before alienation. Shares and participatory interests are therefore always within the charge, whatever the holding period. Source: https://andoz.tj/docs/kodex/Kodex_14_05_2025_Nav_ENG_en.pdf
How are funds and ETFs taxed?
Funds and ETFs: the exception in article 189(1)(12)(c) is drafted for shares and participatory interests in an enterprise's authorised capital, and a unit in an investment fund is neither on the face of the text, so a fund-unit disposal is arguably the exempt movable-property case. This calculator places fund units on the same card as shares, inside the charge, which is the conservative reading; no tax-authority guidance on fund units was located. How do capital losses work?
Losses: article 197(2) and (3) set a loss on the sale, transfer or alienation of property (other than property used for business activity, or property whose income is exempt from tax) against income from the sale or transfer of such property, and carry any unused part forward for up to and including three years against that income; the loss may not be deducted from gross income. An exempt disposal therefore produces no usable loss. Source: https://andoz.tj/docs/kodex/Kodex_14_05_2025_Nav_ENG_en.pdf
What income counts as Tajik-source?
Source: income is from Tajik sources where it arises from immovable property in Tajikistan, including the sale or transfer of an interest in it (article 219(1)(f)); from the sale or transfer of shares or participatory interests in a legal entity where, at any time within 365 days before the sale, their value was determined mainly, directly or indirectly, by Tajik immovable property (article 219(1)(g)); from dividends of a resident legal entity and the sale of an interest in it (article 219(1)(d)); and otherwise from a resident's sale or transfer of property not related to entrepreneurial activity (article 219(1)(h)). The 365-day test is a source-attribution rule for the shared categories in article 219, not a holding-period exemption for a resident. How is crypto taxed in Tajikistan?
Crypto: no crypto-specific provision, rate, exemption or holding-period test was located anywhere in the reviewed Code. A private cryptoasset disposal is movable property, so article 189(1)(12) would exempt its increase in value unless one of that paragraph's exceptions applies; no Tax Committee guidance confirming or denying that reading was found, and frequent trading may be entrepreneurial income. The calculator records the conservative reading (the article 183(3) 15 percent) and lets the user mark a holding as the exempt movable-property case. When is the return due and the tax paid?
Timing: the tax period for an individual's income not taxed at source is the calendar year (article 240(2)); the return is due by 1 April of the following year (article 241(4)); the tax is paid by the 15th day following the calendar month in which the income was received (article 243(1)). Source: https://andoz.tj/docs/kodex/Kodex_14_05_2025_Nav_ENG_en.pdf
What is not computed here?
Not modelled: the 200 calculation indicator threshold in article 189(1)(12)(b). The calculation indicator is a statutory index, and its somoni value for these years was not located in an official source, so the calculator does not convert the threshold and treats a collectible disposal as the exempt movable-property case unless the user says otherwise.
